Your Word is Your Compass Next Year
New Year’s resolutions are crap. Yep. I said it. They are soft, “gosh, it’d be nice if I… (insert your list)”.
We pick a word, for the ENTIRE year, that guides all of our choices.
This word is a touchstone for you.
It’s what you keep in your mind (and on your phone screen!)
to course correct you.
I’ve done:
Focus
Momentum
Sovereignty
and seen Trust, Fearless, Clarity & Forgiveness.
Look at what you want to accomplish and change in the new year.
And consider what single word will help guide you best.
Resist the urge to get clever and try to make it a short phrase.
No 2 word combos unless they SING to your heart.
That said, my word for 2022 is: DO.
D.O. is one word that reminds me I will choose to do ONLY what’s in Divine Order.
(What? :-) Teacher got in two words by using an acronym that doubles as a single word too! It's SINGS to me!)
In 2022 I DO in D.O.
I have LOTS of DOING to DO in 2022 and now I know how to check myself constantly to ensure I’m headed the right way.
I ask, "Is this in Divine Order? Am I pushing? Do I need to do more? Less? Wait for direction?"
Spend as long as you need until your word “feels” perfect to you.
It may pop right into your head or you may have to smith in a bit. Don’t stress! It’ll come.
When you get your word, write it! Repeat it. Put it on your phone screen. Make it into a graphic or post it. Just USE IT! Follow your word through your year and create what you really want.
