It is done for the INTERNAL,
“I want to show myself I can do this” reward.
A greatly overlooked, metaphysical handbook, commonly known as the Bible, gives the instruction to pray “in secret”, so that only your Father or higher consciousness is aware of what you are doing.
Why are you instructed to do your good deed or spiritual acts in secret? So that your ego is not tempted by the reward of external praise.
The Path of Resilience is the Path of Doing:
➡️ what you choose to do,
➡️ even if it is hard,
➡️ because you
chose to do what needs to be done,
➡️ to win your own approval, in the doing of your deed.
Where possible you are detached from the outcome and accept external rewards with
grace, rather than expectation.
Be very wary of anyone that is only acting for a reward.
That person can be bought. That person can get bored. That person can quit halfway.
Think of the
world of dogs.
They train dogs to do some truly incredible tasks and you know what? The very best dogs are the dogs that are motivated by pure joy, love of play and service. Not only food rewards.
Do they get food rewards? Often.
But that is not the core of WHY they are doing what they are doing.
You could absolutely say that man’s best friend is very Resilient, especially when well trained.
This week: Check whatever you are pulling soo hard for.
Check your areas of Resilience and review your relationship to the rewards on offer. Tweak your mindset where necessary so you more closely
resemble a Labrador Retriever being asked to fetch a ball or a Border Collie being ask to herd something - the praise is in the DOING.
