Mental Clutter
How many times have you wondered how to shut off
the constant stream of questions, worries, reminders
and thoughts and aggravations in your mind?
It’s Mental Clutter.
Why is that designation useful? I’ll teach you.
My Teacher was saying something about Clutter when the true definition of Clutter was revealed to my heart - Clutter is Evidence of TRAUMA.
Clutter is Evidence of Trauma.
Remember that. There are many different varieties of Clutter but at the core they ALL come forth as a response to a wound or fear.
That means you CANNOT CHANGE CLUTTER WITH FORCE
or you’ll cause…MORE TRAUMA.
Mental Clutter.
You cannot shut off your Mental Clutter (that endless ticker tape parade of rushing, pushing, frustrated thoughts) by rushing, pushing or frustrated forcing your mind to be silent.
And attempts to do so, backfire.
You CAN do what I have recommended Alphas do for years,
and still do myself when I need it… write it all down!
Keep a notepad and pen right by your bedside at night. When your head is especially busy, jot down what’s in your head on the paper. Do not engage in what you are writing down Alpha! Just play secretary to the dictating junk in your head.
The next day, you must read what you have written down and make some decisions about it. This part is critical.
You must train your worries that you will take action on them after you write them down. Otherwise, the act of writing them down will not give you any relief.
The other thing to do with Mental Clutter is very passive but equally important.
You must notice the Clutter.
We can only manage that which we measure.
Practice noticing some of your 90,000 daily thoughts without getting triggered by them this week.
You would be shocked at how much energy and
focus you are losing by continuing to permit your Mental Clutter.
