Which One of These Are You?
- Piler. You make and keep Visible Piles. You may be an “out of sight, out of mind person”. If you cannot see food in your fridge, it goes bad. You buy lots of duplicates (I had 11 pairs of black pants when I was still practicing law). Fear driven. Cannot release anything.
- Crammer. This is basically Hidden Piles. You love the illusion of a clean space or home. So…you make sure all your stuff is out of sight. Your drawers, boxes, closets are crammed full. These can be chaotic or super organized. Still Clutter. Fear Driven. Cannot release anything but ashamed for others to see that.
- Stripper. (What?) Your trauma makes you Get Rid of Everything. You constantly search your environment for things you can get rid of. Fear driven. Cannot KEEP anything.
While it may be possible to be a Stripper whose minimalism is NOT Fear Driven, Pilers (that was me!) and Crammers are always about Clutter.
I always Teach As Within, So
Without. But…you can help your INSIDE by helping your OUTSIDE.
Fair warning, because Clutter comes from Inner Trauma, you won’t be able to make monumental changes to your outer life with the necessary inner healing first.
But you can do little things in your Environment to soothe you.
If
you are a Piler, you are in good company! Try thinning one pile. One. The one that makes you feel the worst when you notice it. Just go for removing the things that give you no resistance.
If you are a Crammer, stop pretending your home is neat. It’s
not. And Crammers suffer from that extra layer of deception, as you are pretending to be what you are not.
If you are a Stripper, ask yourself why having things scares you? Is it because you can lose them? Does it make you feel visibly “weaker” to
need things? Are you afraid of becoming a Piler or Crammer, possibly like your Mom?
Most all, put your arms around yourself and hug you.
You are a bundle of patterns responding to what your life has given you.
You can start shifting those patterns
you are trapped in, by healing what caused them.
